چکیده
Abstract Detailed in situ vertical and temporal distribution of appendicularians, marine snow, fecal pellets, nano- microplankton were recorded simultaneously with environmental data the San Jorge Gulf, Argentinean Patagonia (45°–47°S). Data taken at a fixed station over 36 h February 2014 an autonomous Video Plankton Recorder FlowCAM®. The water column was thermally stratified pycnocline ~ 40 m. Appendicularians dominated upper 65 m condensed pattern above high chlorophyll concentrations, matching subsurface maximum layer 20 Our results suggest absence migration appendicularians. Marine strongly correlated showed concentrations pycnocline, whereas pellets from krill distributed throughout column. Discarded houses appendicularians or their mucus fragments main components snow aggregates, phytoplankton, detritus also contributing. Nanoplankton microplankton, patterns that might depend on local grazing pressure advective processes. study, first one region using underwater imagery, emphasizes leading contribution to aggregates Gulf potential implications bentho-pelagic coupling.

A bottom mounted upward looking Simrad EK60 120-kHz echo sounder was used to study scattering layers (SLs) and individuals of the krill Meganyctiphanes norvegica. The mooring was situated at 150-m depth in the Oslofjord, connected with an onshore cable for power and transmission of digitized data. Records spanned 5 months from late autumn to spring. A current meter and CTD was associated with t...

The Patagonian currant Ribes magellanicum is highly valued due to its pleasant flavor and sweet taste. The aim of this study was to characterize its constituents and to assess their antioxidant and cytoprotective properties. For the fruit phenolic-enriched extract (PEE), total phenolics (TP), total flavonoids (TF), and antioxidant activity (DPPH, Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), and Tr...

Lontra provocax is an endemic species from Patagonia that has been categorized as "endangered" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. In this study, noninvasive molecular methods were used to investigate the genetic diversity and haplotype distribution of L. provocax in Argentinean Patagonia. We analyzed 150 scat samples collected from 1995 to 2006 and obtained 13 sequences of c...
